The Southwest Florida Public Service Academy is a unique element of the
Technical, Career and Adult Education Department. It is a county level program,
which provides a full-service school serving Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and
Glades counties. There are over two hundred and fifty part-time instructors and
over five thousand students who attend classes offered through the Academy. The
Academy is comprised of the following programs:
Southwest Florida Criminal Justice Academy
This Academy provides criminal justice training for law enforcement and
correctional training in a five county area (Lee, Collier, Glades, Charlotte and
Hendry.
Fort Myers Fire Academy
The Academy, in conjunction with the City of Fort Myers, operates the county
Fire Fighting Academy. This fourteen-week program operates under the guidelines
established by the Florida State Fire College.
Southwest Florida Public Works Program
The purpose of this Academy is to train individuals for the field of public
works. The two most active parts of this program are Traffic Safety and
Utilities training. |
